Plac Małachowskiego 2: An address where history meets modern taste

17.02.2026

There are places in Warsaw that don’t need neon signs to grab attention. One of them is Plac Małachowskiego—intimate, almost hidden in the shadow of the city center’s great arteries, yet buzzing with the energy of the “new downtown.” Why did we choose this specific address for InFormal Kitchen? Because here, like nowhere else, you can feel the spirit of a Warsaw that is simultaneously proud of its past and hungry for modern experiences.

The Count Raczyński Tenement

Warsaw’s “Manhattan” of the 1920s Our home—the building at number 2—is no ordinary tenement. It is the Count Edward Raczyński Building, erected just before the outbreak of World War I. At the time, it was the height of luxury and modernity, referred to by some as “Warsaw’s Manhattan.”

Did you know? The Raczyński Tenement was one of the first buildings in Warsaw with a reinforced concrete structure, which allowed for the creation of vast, glazed storefronts. It is thanks to this architectural boldness that today at InFormal Kitchen we can enjoy such an abundance of natural light and a view of the square. The building survived the war in surprisingly good condition, and its recent renovation restored its former glory, making it one of the most prestigious office buildings in Poland.

A Neighborhood of Distinction:

  • Zachęta and Royal Perspectives Plac Małachowskiego represents a unique triangle of Warsaw’s identity: Art, Faith, and Architecture.
  • Zachęta – National Gallery of Art: Our close neighbor. One of the most important buildings in Poland and a witness to turbulent history. The presence of Zachęta ensures that you will always meet open-minded people, artists, and connoisseurs of life on the square.
  • Holy Trinity Evangelical-Augsburg Church: This monumental rotunda building with its massive dome is an architectural masterpiece. Its acoustics are legendary—Frédéric Chopin performed here as a teenager.
  • Czapski Palace: Just around the corner, home to the Academy of Fine Arts, completing the artistic spirit of the area.

We are fortunate to host you in a place where, after leaving the restaurant, you can take fifty steps and stand before the most significant works of Polish contemporary art.

“The New City Center” – An Unmistakable Vibe

For years, the center of Warsaw was associated with the rush around the Rotunda. However, for a decade now, the gravity of “urban lifestyle” has been shifting toward Plac Małachowskiego and Traugutta Street. This is where the “new City Center” was born. What defines it? Elegance that doesn’t require a suit. It is a place for people who value quality but seek authenticity. Here, a morning business lunch transitions seamlessly into an afternoon coffee after a gallery opening at Zachęta, only to turn into a vibrant bar vibe by evening. Fact: Plac Małachowskiego is one of the few places in the center that, despite being in the heart of the city, has preserved an intimate, almost European “piazza vibe.” There is no hustle of Marszałkowska Street; instead, there is space to breathe and talk.

InFormal Kitchen:

Why we fit in Our InFormal concept was inspired by this very location. Plac Małachowskiego 2 sets high standards—it must be high-quality, professional, and aesthetic. But the spirit of the “new City Center” tells us: be yourself. At InFormal Kitchen, we make the most of this location:

  • Openness: Our kitchen is as transparent as the windows of the Raczyński Tenement.
  • Contrast: We serve premium dishes in an atmosphere that allows you to loosen your tie (even if you just stepped out of the office next door).
  • Local and Global: We are proud of our Warsaw address, but in our flavors, you will taste the travels we undertake to constantly surprise you.

Plac Małachowskiego 2 is more than just a point on a map. It is an invitation to a world where quality speaks for itself, and the atmosphere makes you want to stay for dessert, even if you only planned a quick lunch.

Drop by and feel the vibe for yourself. The table by the window is waiting.
